Playing Make-Believe of a Pirates Life with Captain No Beard! Reviews for 3 Children's Books!

If you haven't already introduced your children to Captain No Beard, you might want to take a look for their Christmas stockings!

Teaching your children to use their imagination just may be the best possible thing to learn. Not only does it bring fun but it allows the child to develop thinking skills and creativity. Carole Roman has created a delightful series, all with Captain No Beard on board...

And with the help of these books, your own children can become pirates as well--playing make-believe, that is...

This particular book tells a truly imaginary story of what a pirate may get into... and what they might look like to dress up as a pirate... At my house I'd have to have my own "kids" take a part. What do you think?

 Here's a picture of Captain No Beard's crew! You can see everybody's ready to set sail, right?!

In fact, this book introduces them and then went on to show a picture of this "mighty frigate" the Flying Dragon. I like that name and the ship is really beautiful, too!

There was always work to do on the ship and also, a whole new Pirates language to learn, like "Shiver me timbers!" Do you know what that means? Here, I'll put it in a sentence... "Shiver me timbers!" the Captain sure makes us work hard!

The Captain uses his spyglass to help keep track of where they sail, to check the weather, and to see what is ahead of them, perhaps another ship! No, it was a cloud and not just any cloud. It was a storm cloud and being out on the high seas can sometimes be dangerous... So the Captain sounded the Alarm!
The Captain's job is hard work--he's got to make sure they make it through the storm! And then they were visited by a mermaid! Bringing treasure!

"Did I hear you say you were looking for treasure?" She lowered a plate filled with golden cookies. "I come bearing doubloons. Just don't leave any crumbs, me hearties."

Gee, even Mom likes to play make-believe! That's a hint! Argh! This book is highly recommended!

Captain No Beard walked around the castle. "I think the tower should
go here, and the drawbridge belongs over there," he pointed out. He
started to rearrange the sane.
"Stop!" Linus roared. "What are you doing?"
~~~
Captain No Beard and his crew are marooned! They are stuck in the doldrums... There was no wind for their sale--what were they going to do on a deserted island?!
Quickly the First Mate suggested that they play in the sand on the beautiful beach...
Mongo peered through the telescope and exclaimed that the clouds looked like marshmallows...
Well, when he said that, everybody wanted to look through the spyglass, but Mongo wasn't ready to give it up!
The Captain stated that he was in charge and had to give it to him, but Mongo, the monkey was not happy even though he gave it to him. Then he spied the sandcastle!
And the Captain immediately saw changes that he thought would be better, so he started tearing up the Castle. Linus the Lion had yelled to stop, but again the Captain claimed that he was the boss...
Nobody but the Captain agreed, quickly saying this was not fun! They even wanted to go to another place and build another castle...
Mutiny! thought the Captain... and decided to go on ship and set sail! But, what do you think? Should the Captain declare everything had to be exactly as he wanted? Well, when the Captain had an unexpected and unwanted visitor, he soon learned!
Even the Captain has to learn how to work with his crew!
Check it out...and, by the way, that pipe is blowing bubbles! LOL
This time Pepper Parrot's got a lesson to learn... This story is all about having patience!
Pepper had just joined the crew!
But he quickly learned how to respond, Aargh!
He was assigned to be the ship's cook... but first he had to learn the parts of the ship, but every time a command was made, he flew to the other side... And when he was wrong, he quickly declared he was not happy In fact, he screamed it!
And when they tried again, he still got it wrong. He got madder and madder and his temper was about to explode!
And then a simple question led to the solution..."Pepper, do you know your right from your left?" [Afterall, birds have wings, you know!] From then on, he was right all the time!
They got so excited that they changed Pepper's name...to... It really is more easier to ask for help, or be patient, don't you think? Since Pepper is shown in tears and screaming, learning about not having tantrums is effectively shown too! Cool!
Like all these Captain No Beard stories, this is highly recommended!
